Employees Determine the Best of 2024: Great Place to Work® Certification™ holders among the Best Employers™ List were announced.

Turkey’s Best Employers™ List, including employers holding the Great Place to Work® Certification™, has been unveiled. At the event held on April 25, 2024, 170 organizations were awarded the title of Best Employer.

Great Place To Work®, a global authority on workplace culture and employee experience, announced Turkey’s Best Employers™ List for 2024. This year, analyzing over 600 companies from various sectors including information technology, manufacturing, finance, retail, pharmaceuticals, and others, Great Place To Work® measured the workplace culture and employee experience in these organizations. The Best Employers™ List was compiled based on the responses of 160,000 employees participating in the Trust Index™ survey, which measures workplace culture and employee experience across these 600 companies. Companies that demonstrated the best performance in meeting the “For All™” criteria, ensuring a consistently positive experience for all employees, were included in the list.

The awards for the companies listed in the Best Employers™ List were presented at an event held at The Grand Tarabya Hotel on April 25, 2024. This year’s list, announced based on six categories according to the number of employees in the organizations, included companies in the following categories: 10-49 Employees, 50-99 Employees, 100-249 Employees, 250-499 Employees, 500-999 Employees, and 1,000+ Employees.

Eyüp Toprak: “Companies that manage stress well made a difference.”

Assessing this year’s results at the awards ceremony, Great Place To Work® CEO Eyüp Toprak stated, “We are completing our 12th year as Great Place To Work Turkey. Every year, with the expertise we have globally in organizational culture and employee experience, we provide valuable insights for the sustainable success of organizations. This year, we have left behind a very challenging year in Turkey. Due to reasons such as elections, hyperinflation, and general hopelessness, we observe a four-point decrease in the general confidence index compared to the previous year. This means that both in the best employers and in standard companies, employees have high stress levels. The only difference is that the best employers have managed this stressful situation through innovative approaches, effective leadership practices, open communication, and welfare programs. In other words, companies that have managed to make their employees feel secure during crisis periods like this year have managed this crisis more successfully.”

This year, employees said, “Let my company maintain its position.”

Toprak pointed out the striking results of the report, stating, “One of the most surprising results of the analyzes we conducted this year was the change in employees’ expectations from even the top five companies. In our analyzes in previous years, employees emphasized the importance of their companies adding value to society, but according to this year’s outputs, due to the crisis, it is more important for the company to maintain its position and solidity to avoid job losses.”

Economic welfare is important, but not decisive in the perception of a great workplace

Toprak also mentioned that one of the most challenging issues for organizations this year was salary adjustments. “Even though companies increase salaries, market price increases reduce purchasing power. However, it would be incorrect to say that employees in companies without high salary policies are unhappy. Leaders in companies with the title of best employer can compensate for this negative perception with a human-focused approach, value, culture, and provided training. Companies focusing on work-life balance and providing benefits in social welfare improve their employees’ experience positively.”

According to research results, dissatisfaction with the performance system is the most noticeable issue in standard companies. Employees believe that social benefits are insufficient and the existing system does not operate fairly. The effective performance system emerges as an area that needs to be improved even in the best employers.

Another important indicator of our analyzes is the importance of competent leadership. Evaluations made separately for young age groups such as Generation Y and Generation Z revealed that the biggest difference among these companies is “competent managers.” Toprak stated the following regarding this issue: “If the vision of people in managerial positions does not align with the corporate culture, this partnership either does not last long or the manager cannot convince the employee of something they don’t believe in. A corporate culture based on high trust and effective leadership is the most important two factors for a positive employee experience. Promising and trustworthy leadership that sees employees as stakeholders, establishes open communication, and is consistent, respectful, impartial, and inclusive, ensures that employees’ emotional and psychological fluctuations are managed more effectively.”

Great Place To Work®, with the important research results it shares every year, provides clues to organizations on how they can be more long-lasting and successful by doing things differently. The full list of companies entering this prestigious list from different sectors is as follows:
