SAP and NVIDIA to Empower Global Industries with Productive Artificial Intelligence. SAP, the global leader in enterprise application software, and NVIDIA, the technology company that recently introduced the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence chip, announced an expansion of their collaboration to accelerate the adoption of productive artificial intelligence in the business world.
Companies are collaborating to create and deliver SAP Business AI, including scalable, industry-specific productive AI capabilities, as well as SAP’s digital assistant Joule. This process is supported by SAP’s Productive AI Center, which facilitates responsible and reliable business AI and provides instant access to a wide range of large language models (LLMs).
This collaboration aims to enable customers to access extensive productive AI capabilities across their organizations, as part of SAP’s ongoing initiative to directly integrate productive AI into applications that empower businesses worldwide. SAP will use NVIDIA’s AI development platform (foundry) services to fine-tune LLMs for domain-specific scenarios and develop new NVIDIA NIM™ microservices applications. SAP and NVIDIA plan to make these integrated capabilities available by the end of 2024.
“Enterprise customers demand the latest technologies that deliver real business value,” said SAP CEO and Executive Board Member Christian Klein. “Strategic technology partnerships like the one we have with NVIDIA form the foundation of our strategy to invest in technology that maximizes the business potential and opportunities offered by AI. NVIDIA’s expertise in delivering AI capabilities at scale will support SAP in accelerating its transformation and delivering better services in the cloud.”
Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, commented, “SAP sits atop a veritable gold mine of enterprise data that can be transformed into custom productive AI tools to help customers automate their operations. With this partnership, we will provide personalized productive AI to thousands of global organizations that rely on SAP to strengthen their business operations.”
To enhance customer insights, SAP and NVIDIA plan to collaborate on integrating productive AI into SAP’s cloud solutions, including the latest version of SAP Datasphere, SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), and RISE with SAP.
SAP aims to create additional productive AI capabilities in SAP BTP using NVIDIA’s AI development platform services, including NVIDIA DGX™ Cloud AI supercomputing, NVIDIA Enterprise AI software, and NVIDIA AI Deployment models. The new capabilities, designed to form the foundation of SAP’s efforts to develop productive AI for customers, are expected to be accessible through SAP AI Core and SAP Datasphere.
Other productive AI initiatives include:
- Enhancing AI-powered digital assistant Joule with new capabilities provided by NVIDIA and SAP, making Joule available within SAP’s cloud environments and those of major cloud technology providers.
- Developing innovative use cases leveraging SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP Signavio to simplify and enhance digital transformation efforts.
- Integrating AI data sources with SAP Datasphere to provide customers with a unified view, enabling faster adaptation to market changes and more efficient decision-making.
SAP and NVIDIA are working together to accelerate SAP’s federated ML (FedML) capabilities for SAP Datasphere, making it easier for data scientists to access data and improve ML workload performance using NVIDIA-accelerated computing platforms and NVIDIA AI Enterprise software.
Furthermore, SAP plans to use NVIDIA AI development platform services to support developers in generating code using large language models for the ABAP programming language, aiding developers who use ABAP through SAP’s Cloud ABAP model and SAP’s Cloud Application Programming Model.
When models are ready for deployment in SAP’s cloud solutions, SAP plans to use NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, including NVIDIA NIM and NVIDIA NeMo Retriever™ microservices, to enhance inference performance in SAP’s accelerated infrastructure and securely access data for productive AI applications running on SAP software, adding RAG capabilities to improve accuracy and insights. Customers can plan to use RAG on both SAP and third-party data sources.
