A More Livable World is Possible with Artificial Intelligence. Dr. R. Erdem Erkul, founder and chairman of Cerebrum Tech, attended the Global Digital Summit organized by the World Bank Group and discussed how AI will shape the future and Cerebrum Tech’s journey in developing responsible AI products and solutions.
The summit, held on March 18-19, 2025, at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C., brought together AI leaders from around the world, including representatives from the private sector, public institutions, and academia. The event, themed “Digital Pathways for All,” explored the latest developments in digital transformation and transformative innovations shaping the future.
Dr. Erkul was the only Turkish participant at the event, attending as an invited guest of the World Bank. He participated in the “AI Shaping the Future of the World” session, moderated by Amy Doherty, Vice President of Information Technology at the World Bank, and shared insights into Cerebrum Tech’s responsible AI development journey.
Overcoming Complex Challenges with AI
Dr. Erkul emphasized that responsible AI, combining innovation and ethics, can help tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges, from mitigating climate change to ensuring justice and protecting sensitive data. He stated:
“Responsible AI ensures the ethical development and application of technology. Ethical AI development plays a crucial role in areas such as information security and economic sustainability.”
Erkul also highlighted AI’s critical role in combating disinformation, stressing that AI-based verification systems are essential for preventing misinformation and guiding societies toward accurate information. He added:
“Responsible AI policies can enhance access to reliable information in the digital world.”
He underscored the importance of human-centric AI development, asserting that when combined with ethical principles, responsible innovation can serve as a powerful lever in solving global challenges.
The panel also featured prominent figures such as Wencai Zhang (Managing Director, World Bank), Haja Salima Monorma Bah (Minister of Communications, Technology, and Innovation of Sierra Leone), Ravi Shankar Chaturvedi (Director, Tufts University Digitaś Planet), and Nelly Wilson (Global Head of AI for Weather and Climate Services, Google Cloud).
Inclusive and Sustainable Development
The World Bank, hosting its second Global Digital Summit, aims to support inclusive and sustainable development through digital transformation. The summit promotes the idea that digital technologies accelerate economic and social progress, helping close income gaps, eliminate poverty, and create a more livable world.
The event also featured interactive sessions, panel discussions, and technology exhibitions, where leading global companies showcased their AI-driven innovations.
